What’s on the big screen this summer 2019 ?

Hey there movie fans,

I am looking forward to this summers movies and of course a little sunshine. I am super excited to attend some summer premieres because standing outside in the UK cold weather in winter is just not fun.  So what films are you most excited to see? Check out my line up and comment below let me know if you like my choices.

1. “Shaft.”

Release: June 14
Rating: R
Starring: Samuel L. Jackson, Jesse T. Usher, Richard Roundtree. Shaft

The new Shaft movie is coming, and I am looking forward to this one. The sequel to the 2000 film although the movie has not changed the name Jackson plays a cool detective all originated from the blaxploitation classic of 1971. However, in this new chapter, we have three generations with Jr. I am curious about this and of course I want to see how this cast work together to bring this action to life. Let’s be honest; Jackson is never going to age black don’t crack baby!  Check out the trailer here.

2. “Men In Black: International.”

Release: June 14
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson.

Ok before you say anything I know, they didn’t need to do another, but I am seriously curious. Now, Will Smith is the king of the Men In Black films, and the first one will always be the best one, but for the sake of me not minding my own business I want to know what Chris and Tessa are up to.

I highly doubt this can replicate the Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith tag team, but I want to see Hemsworth and newbie Thompson, a trainee with the Men In Black crew work together to take down these aliens. It kind of feels like she is the female Will Smith, but we’ll see, and I am slightly biased because it’s based in the serene city of London it might be intriguing to see some familiar streets on screen. Will this be as amazing? What do you think? See the trailer here:

3. “The Lion King.”

Release: July 19
Starring: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Oliver.

The Lion King

Now, this has a lot to live up to because you just can’t beat a classic like  Lion King and if you didn’t cry when you know who died you are dead inside, even dogs cry at this film. (See dog crying on youtube at Lion King movie it’s all too much)

Anyway, the graphics are amazing in this remake, and James Earl Jones’s voice is just magical. I am excited to see this film. I just hope the story lives up to the beautiful classic that is the original. See the trailer here:

4. “John Wick: Chapter 3 -Parabellum”

Release: May 17
Rating: R
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Asia Kate Dillon, Jason Mantzoukas.

John Wick 3

I think I just like Keanu, his name alone is just cool, but also he is a nice guy. Anyone who rides the subway who doesn’t have to must be cute right. The John Wick franchise is back with another, and this time Reeves is bringing the heat. I won’t say too much, but if you fancy watching it, this movie is coming out pretty soon. You can catch up the first two on either Netflix or Amazon or both. Check the trailer here:

I’ll be back with some more updates on summer films, and I won’t keep you all waiting so long for the next post.

CICI xoxo
